Minimum casino age, province by province

Last updated · facts verified

There's no national casino age — each province sets its own. Alberta, Manitoba and Québec: 18. Ontario, British Columbia and New Brunswick: 19. The limit always covers the gaming floor; a few resorts extend it to their bars, their venues, even the entire property. Run through the points below before you book.

Carry photo ID

Pack government photo ID, whatever the province. In B.C. it has been requested from every single guest since June 2023 and run against the restricted-entry list. In Québec, looking under 25 is enough to be asked. One Ontario venue, Great Blue Heron, goes further still: its entry rules list a valid original government photo ID and a second photo ID.

Self-exclusion

Each province runs voluntary self-exclusion: you're barred from its casinos for a term you choose, and some terms can't be cut short. Thinking about it? Phone your province's helpline from the table above — it's free and confidential.
