Owned and operated by the Tsuut'ina Nation at Calgary's south-west edge, Grey Eagle added a 178-room hotel in 2014. West-facing rooms can catch the Rockies; the Event Centre (2,500 seats) books a strong line-up; eat at Little Chief, one of the West's better casino restaurants. The pool is out of action through a renovation that stretches into 2027.
Book it forCalgary concerts and a launch pad for Kananaskis and Banff.

A Tsuut'ina resort on the city's edge
The Tsuut'ina Nation owns Grey Eagle and runs it too. Gaming started here in 2007; the hotel — six storeys, 178 rooms — was formally opened on May 2, 2014. A few minutes to downtown Calgary in one direction, about 30 to Kananaskis Country in the other: no other casino hotel in our guide has both on its doorstep.
Rooms
On clear days, says the resort, the west side looks out at the Rockies; the other rooms get the city. Pick Standard King, Premier King, or Standard Two Queen (the one aimed at families), or step up to the King Suite or Presidential Suite. Rooms and suites are described as newly renovated.
Casino
84,000 sq ft, 975-plus slot machines, 32 tables. Slots never stop; tables run 10 am–3 am; high-limit rooms cover blackjack, baccarat and others. Age: 18. The casino says phased renovation work continues through 2026–2027. Rewards: Winner's Edge, Alberta's province-wide card.
Event Centre
2,500 seats and open to all ages. 2024 brought an L-Acoustics system and a YYC Music Awards win as Venue/Presenter of the Year. The Concert Night Getaway pairs two tickets with an overnight stay for $329–$369.
Food
Dinner worth booking: Little Chief, where contemporary cooking meets Indigenous tradition — written up by both the Calgary Herald and Avenue Magazine. Running out the year: The Buffet (18+), with nightly features to December 31, 2026, before it shuts for renovation in January 2027. Casual fallbacks: Blaze Bar & Grill; the Eagle Bar, right on the gaming floor; the Stage Bar, which puts on free shows at weekends; and the Eagle Street Eats truck, serving Indian tacos, chili and bannock, and Saskatoon berry dumplings.
Swimming
Pool: shut while the casino is renovated. Substitute: free entry for hotel guests at the City of Calgary's Killarney and Glenmore pools. Still open on site: outdoor hot tub, sauna, 24-hour gym.
Beyond the casino
Grey Eagle Cultural Tours offer time on Tsuut'ina Nation — the Tsuut'ina Museum, a Buffalo Paddock Tour. Calgary International is 30–45 minutes, Banff about 60. Free parking; pets go on a designated floor.
Verdict
Our pick for a Calgary or Rockies itinerary and a fine base for a concert. Pack for the hot tub, not the pool, until the work is done.
