Each province sets its own number. 18: Alberta, Manitoba, Québec. 19: Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick. That number always applies on the gaming floor — and at some resorts it reaches further, into lounges, show venues or every corner of the property. The details that matter before booking are below.

Carry photo ID
Pack government photo ID, whatever the province. In B.C. it has been requested from every single guest since June 2023 and run against the restricted-entry list. In Québec, looking under 25 is enough to be asked. One Ontario venue, Great Blue Heron, goes further still: door staff there want a second piece of photo ID on top of an original government card.
Hotels with house rules on age
- Hard Rock Ottawa — 19+ across the whole property, hotel and restaurants too.
- Great Canadian Toronto and Casino New Brunswick — a guest aged 19+ must make the booking; kids can sleep there, but not set foot in 19+ zones.
- River Rock — 19 to check in.
- River Cree — under-18s with an adult may use all non-gaming areas (rule in force since July 29, 2024).
- Fallsview — kids welcome on site; no strollers or babes in arms on the casino floor.
Self-exclusion
Each province runs voluntary self-exclusion: you're barred from its casinos for a term you choose, and some terms cannot be ended early. Considering it? Phone your province's helpline from the table above — it's free and confidential.
